Considering that this was not an issue in 2000, and Bush and Cheney have changed their positions... I'd have to agree with you.

Why does it have to be gay "marriage?"
by spiritwalker ini know this a hot topic, but i had some thinking on it i wanted to discuss.
to begin, i have nothing against a gay man or lesbian woman and consider many to be friends.
i would also like to express from the beginning in plain thought, "i think gay unions should be legal and do not see why it matters.".

Democrats Who Support Bush/Cheney ticket
by Double Edge insomeone posted the topic about republicans who are not supporting president bush.
i think in politics that is not unusual, people switching allegences.
here' s the other side of the coin..... http://democrats.bushblog.us/

In 2000, 11% of registered Democrats voted for Bush...the number seems to be about the same this year, depending on where you poll... lotta Zell Millers out there.
If 15% of Republicans do vote for Kerry, that's a 4% delta - I'll take that with a smile.

Liberal Equals Ex-JW
by patio34 insomething i've noticed on this board is that there seem to be many more liberal-left types than conservative-right types.
what do you think of my following theories?
in the 70s, many converts to jw-dom were influenced by the anti-establishment philosophy and anti-viet nam war.

But donkey, you're the only one who's mentioned them...

Using sophisticated Fourier analysis, one can determine that there's only one project per year. Somewhere, there's somthing they only qualify for if they do one project per year, I bet.
PS, of the cynic class

How do you know when you?ve put the Watchtower behind you?
by Steve Lowry init takes time (usually several years for most folks), to attain a certain level of inner peace about leaving the watchtower society and all its psychological baggage.
it?s a process we all go/grow through and just because you haven?t attained the perfect balance yet doesn?t preclude you from enjoying the success that you have attained, so far.
anyway here are a few i thought of myself.

As long as we remember the root of the word catharsis, (kartharsis, to purge) and remember that if we do that for too long, we're either bulemic or diarrheic.

At the risk of sounding pedantic...
I agree with the above statement if you are referring to pedophilia - there's no reason for comparing them.
Incestuous marriage of closely-related adults (what Yeru was referring to at one point) is a valid topic for the discussion of the institution of marriage and state regulation thereof.

I'm sorry, shamus, were you involving yourself in a discussion? I thought you were doing your imitation of a gibbering drunken passerby that no one can understand.
Of course you're welcome in any discussion, you dope... but what the hell are you talking about?
The only reason I participate in these discussion is to give XJW's who are casting about for what they believe something to examine. You think I'm trying to change Yeru's mind? No - I'm trying to give those leaving the WTS a different outlook on these topics... and you're welcome to help, if you can do so intelligibly.

OK, I actually Saw the Passion
by Yerusalyim injust came home from seeing...the passion...after the movie there was a question and answer session with two rabbis that viewed it with us...and three priests from my parish...more on that at another time...though both rabbis said in their opinion the movie is not antisemetic, but that it could (would) stir up antisemetic feelings in those who already possessed them.. the movie was an overall good one.
it was interesting trying to figure out some of the symbolism...what did the baby represent???
i think i know, but i'd like to hear mel's take on it.. pretty gory stuff, not quite what i thought it would be, but still quite yucky.

I think that's incorrect, Yeru. Janet took much more heat. Mel has gotten as much good press as bad, I think.
The FCC hasn't attempted to tighten regulation on depictions of the Crucufixion as far as I know...
